Limestone

Limestone is a carbonate sedimentary rock that is either composed through the evaporation of water containing calcium carbonate, leaving behind a sediment deposit or through the coral and shells of molluscs disintegrating and settling on the ocean floor or coasts where they are compacted over millions of years.

Limestone is usually a cream beige colour due to it being composed of bone, shell and calcium carbonate, however, the presence of certain materials will alter the colour of the limestone, impurities like clay, sand, organic remains, iron oxide and other substances cause this different hue. Additionally crystals of calcite, quartz, dolomite or barite can line the cavities in the rock.

This material can be used for  internal applications as well as external applications which include, kitchen bench tops, splash-backs, bathroom vanity tops, bath surrounds, fireplaces, reception counters, wall panels, floor and wall tiles, external cladding and external paving.
